Julebord Mai-Tai

  • 40ml Rum
  • 20ml Cranberry Juice
  • 10ml malt wine syrup
  • 20ml lime
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters

-Garnish with sterilized pine branch, large frozen cranberries, powder Sugar and shaved cinnamon for the most Koselig Christmas garnish ever =)

To better understand what the Norwegians really mean by the untranslatable word “koselig” my friend Kari and I played a game called “koselig og ikke koselig.”

It’s a certain nuance in the manner in which one approaches things that makes the Norwegian culture koselig. It’s more of an attitude than anyone particular thing. A way of making the best of things and keeping happy through the long dark winters here in the city of Oslo. Woolen clothing and candle lit rooms. The warmth of friendship and family to disarm the dreary dark. And nothing is more koselig than the feeling of Christmas in the air!

Julebord season is here and companies are organizing their final party of the year. The one where all the pent up feelings from 2015 come pouring out in the form of Juleøl, aquavit, ill advised decisions and dance solo’s. Veldig koselig.
